Federico JIANG Xiaoqing is a professional luthier of fine classical and flamenco guitars based in Guangzhou, China. He also offers guitar making lessons at his workshop. 

Since 2002, he has studied the flamenco guitar from Raymond Au, the mentor from Hong Kong who devoted himself to spreading the art of flamenco in China. Federico’s enthusiasm for the guitar was soon ignited by the glamour of flamenco. In 2003, with beliefs and determinations, he decided to concentrate on a career as a luthier.

Despite the limited learning resources, he kept researching for the secrets of guitar making. Through plenty of experiments, his craftsmanship improved time by time. Federico’s guitar making business became well-known in the flamenco and classical guitars communities of the region, especially after a few television interviews, university lectures and performing events.

In 2012, Federico attended a masterclass of guitar making given by the renowned Spanish luthier Juan Labella. And in 2015, Federico took a trip to Granada, Spain to pursue his lifelong dream of learning to build a guitar in the most authentic way in its place of origin. He gained tremendous help from Stephen Hill, the founder of the European Institute of Guitar Making, who follows closely Antonio Marín Montero’s “Granada school” method. Federico managed to combine traditions and innovations in his guitar making.

Up to now, he has made more than 500 guitars, including flamenco, classical, romantic and multi-string guitar models. He has taken inspirations from the greatest luthiers, such as Antonio de Torres, Miguel Rodríguez, Gerundino Fernández and Manuel Reyes. Federico’s guitars are being appreciated not only in his native mainland China, but also by the customers from Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Canada, United States, Italy, and even Spain. Federico is now known as one of the most outstanding luthiers in China for the sound of his guitars.
